Instructors will present hands-on STEM classroom programs to visiting school groups. Applicant should be flexible, enthusiastic, and be able to adapt in a fast-paced environment. There may be opportunities to assist in the development and implementation of additional education programming.
Basic Functions:
- Present 45-minute classes on a variety of STEM topics to students PreK-grade 12 (primarily elementary and early middle school)
- Prepare and maintain materials, supplies, and classroom spaces
- Communicate with teachers and chaperones
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Basic science concepts
- Informal elementary education
Skills:
- Classroom management
- Utilize technology in preparation and presentation
- Flexibility for diverse groups and needs
Abilities:
- Execute a lesson plan
- Clearly communicate STEM topics
- Feel comfortable presenting in front of groups
- Provide excellent guest service
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, education, or related field preferred.
- Experience in informal education/STEM instruction may be substituted for education.
Basic Requirements:
- Must be able to pass background check and fingerprinting.
Compensation: $15.00/hour
Hours: Possible hours Tuesday-Friday, 9:30am – 2:30pm
