Learn how to use your telescope in 30 minutes or less!
Do you have a telescope at home gathering dust? Were you gifted a telescope, but aren’t quite sure how to use it?
Grab your telescope and head to the Maryland Science Center for a hands-on training session. This 30-minute workshop is perfect for individuals who are eager to learn how to set up, align, and confidently start using their own telescope.
Instructors will walk you through the basics of telescope operation, provide tips for getting the best views, and introduce you to simple sky navigation techniques to help you find planets, stars, and constellations. Whether you are new to stargazing or looking to sharpen your skills, this workshop will give you the tools and confidence to explore the cosmos from your own backyard!
Additional Information:
- Participants must preregister to participate. Participants must also provide their own telescope. The purpose is to learn how to use your own equipment.
- The cost of the workshop includes hands-on guidance with our telescope experts. This cost does not include admission to the exhibit halls—all participants must either be members or purchase daily admission to the Science Center.
- Workshop sessions are scheduled to take place outdoors on the Maryland Science Center’s green roof—next to the Observatory. In the case of inclement weather conditions, you will be given the option to either work with an instructor indoors or have your ticket refunded.
