Celebrate science at our 48th annual gala!
Each year, on the Saturday closest to the Summer Solstice, friends of the Science Center gather to recognize the important work that takes place each and every day at the Science Center and out in the community across the entire State of Maryland.
Funds raised through Solstice support free admission for all Maryland school children and their teachers who visit as part of a field trip during the upcoming school year. Solstice also funds our outreach programs—Traveling Science Program, Ready Set Go Science, and Family Science and Family Engineering Nights.

Dress to impress and celebrate with exciting science demonstrations, live music, food and drink!
Discover something new as staff welcomes you with hands-on science demonstrations.
Dance the night away to live music performed on the atrium stage and a DJ spinning records on the rooftop patio.
Mingle and explore in our three levels of interactive exhibits. Enjoy multiple open-bars and food stations featuring our signature cocktail and delicious bites.

Why we celebrate
For almost 50 years, all Maryland school students visiting on a field trip have received free admission to the Science Center’s exhibit halls.
All proceeds from Solstice help underwrite the free admission policy and help ensure that future generations of students will continue to visit for free on a field trip.
Solstice is one night of terrific scientific celebration, but the mission of the Science Center is the reason we gather.
