Outstanding STEM Educator
The Outstanding Maryland STEM Educator Award is given to an elementary or middle school Maryland educator in a STEM field that demonstrates a focus on a hands-on, inquiry-driven teaching technique that engages students to develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The recipient will be awarded $1,000, as well as $500 for classroom supplies, a free educational program from the Maryland Science Center, and a family membership to the Science Center.

Congratulations to our 2025 awardee:
The Ivy Community Charities of Prince George’s County, Popcorn Club
The Iota Gamma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Sorority established Ivy Community Charities modeled after the Sorority’s AKA Educational Advancement Foundation. Among the several service programs provided in the Landover and Suitland communities, Ivy Community Charities supports engagement with elementary school students through the Popcorn Club.
This group provided the means and school support to bring the MSC Traveling Science Program to Rosa L. Parks Elementary, Allenwood Elementary, and Andrew Jackson Elementary in Prince George’s County.
Recognizing the value of MSC outreach to provide inspiring STEM enrichment for elementary students and arranging to extend its impact to three schools is the basis for this award.
