Volunteer FAQs

Who can volunteer at the Maryland Science Center?

The Maryland Science Center welcomes volunteers of all interests, backgrounds and experience. An interest in science, technology, museums or education is helpful but not necessary. Volunteers should be friendly, eager to learn, committed and interested in promoting MSC’s mission to create awareness in everyone of the importance of science in our lives.

Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. For volunteers aged 14-18 please visit http://www.mdsci.org/get-involved/intern/  for more information about internship programs and youth volunteering.

What do Maryland Science Center volunteers do?

Volunteer positions are offered in nearly every department at the Maryland Science Center. Volunteers can work alongside staff in our exhibits or behind the scenes. To view the current list of available positions please visit: http://www.mdsci.org/get-involved/volunteer/volunteer-positions/

The Maryland Science Center Volunteer Program is continually growing and changing. When completing the volunteer application form, please indicate the position that interests you most, in addition to other areas of the museum that may interest you.

If you are interested in a volunteer position not currently listed please contact the Volunteer Coordinator.  Volunteer position suggestions are always welcome!
