As a public health precaution due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Maryland Science Center will be temporarily closed beginning Saturday, March 14.
At the Maryland Science Center the safety of our guests, and our staff, is our primary concern. As the current coronavirus (COVID-19) evolves we are monitoring the latest from the Centers for Disease Control and local and state agencies and following their guidelines and recommendations. We are not currently announcing a re-open date due to the rapidly changing nature of the virus. The best way to stay in touch with the Maryland Science Center is to sign up for our emails, follow us on social media, or visit our website at www.marylandsciencecenter.org Or you can call our switchboard Monday – Friday from 9am until 5pm at 410-685-2370. 24 hour recorded information is available at 410-685-5225.
Science is our middle name so we’re encouraging everyone to take reasonable precautions. Experts in the field are saying that one of the best ways to avoid this virus is to wash your hands with soap and water often, for at least 20 seconds each time. Try not to touch your face—especially your eyes, nose and mouth. And cover your cough or sneeze. To learn more, visit the CDC website.
In the meantime, we invite you to check out our online resources and keep the science going at home! Science can happen anywhere—even while maintaining a safe social distance. Try out one of the experiments from our catalog of Science At Home activities.
During times like this, we are reminded of how essential science education is to the health of our society. We find it more important than ever to continue the pursuit of our mission. If you agree, please consider donating to our cause to help us get through this difficult time for our non-profit institution.
