Join the Maryland Science Center for an in-person workshop for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts. Scouts will learn to design, build and test multiple machines to earn their mechanical engineering badges in our Girl Scouts Mechanical Engineering Workshop!

BrowniesJoin the Maryland Science Center to earn a badge at our Mechanical Engineering Workshop on Sunday, December 11. Brownies will learn about forces, friction, and energy while they design, build, and test a leap bot, fling flyer and race car.

1:00 – 2:00 – Badge 1: Leap Bot Design Challenge
2:00 – 2:15 – Break
2:15 – 3:15 – Badge 2: Fling Flyer Design Challenge
3:15 – 3:30 – Break
3:30 – 4:30 – Badge 3: Race Car Design Challenge
Cost: $40 per participant
Join the Maryland Science Center to earn a badge at our Mechanical Engineering Workshop Saturday, November 12th. Juniors will learn about energy, simple and compound machines, and the design process. Then they will design, build, and test a balloon car, paddle boat and crane.

11:00am-12:40pm – Badge 1: Paddle Boat Design Challenge
12:40pm-1:10pm – Break
1:10pm-2:50pm – Badge 2: Balloon Car Design Challenge
2:50pm-4:40pm – Badge 3: Crane Design Challenge
Cost: $55 per participant
Additional Information
- Space in the classroom is limited, so we can only allow 1 adult in the classroom per group. That adult must be in the classroom at all times.
- Reduced admission can be purchased for any scouts or family members who would like to visit the exhibits outside of the workshop.
- Badges are not included. They must be purchased from your organization.
