Join the Maryland Science Center to earn a badge at our Mechanical Engineering Workshop on Saturday, April 23. Brownies will learn about forces, friction, and energy while they design, build, and test a leap bot, fling flyer and race car.
1:00 – 2:00 – Badge 1: Leap Bot Design Challenge
2:00 – 2:15 – Break
2:15 – 3:15 – Badge 2: Fling Flyer Design Challenge
3:15 – 3:30 – Break
3:30 – 4:30 – Badge 3: Race Car Design Challenge
Cost: $40 per participant
Join the Maryland Science Center to earn a badge at our Mechanical Engineering Workshop Saturday, May 28. Juniors will learn about energy, simple and compound machines, and the design process. Then they will design, build, and test a balloon car, paddle boat and crane.
11:00am-12:40pm – Badge 1: Paddle Boat Design Challenge
12:40pm-1:10pm – Break
1:10pm-2:50pm – Badge 2: Balloon Car Design Challenge
2:50pm-4:40pm – Badge 3: Crane Design Challenge
Cost: $55 per participant
- Space in the classroom is limited, so we can only allow 1 adult in the classroom per group. That adult must be in the classroom at all times.
- Reduced admission can be purchased for any scouts or family members who would like to visit the exhibits outside of the workshop.
- Badges are not included. They must be purchased from your organization.
