Earn your robotics merit badge!
Join the Maryland Science Center for a one-day virtual Scouts BSA Robotics Workshop on April 17. Scouts (in 6th-12th grade) will learn about robots and programming, then design, build, and test a hydraulic arm. After the workshop, scouts will be given the contact information for a Robotics merit badge counselor who is familiar with our program and can sign off on the badge. Each scout will be provided a set of required materials.
Scouts should come prepared to discuss the safety precautions and potential first aid that may be needed when working with robots (Req. 1)
Research one career opportunity in robotics (Req. 7).
12:45am-1:00pm – Participants can log onto the Zoom platform
1:00pm-2:30pm – Learn about robots and the robotics industry
3:00pm-5:00pm – Design, Build, Test and Program a hydraulic arm
Cost: $45 per participant
- We are happy to combine shipping or packaging if multiple scouts from the same troop are signing up. In that case one representative from the troop would purchase shipping, or pick-up materials from Maryland Science Center, and then distribute the kits to all registered scouts in their troop.
