Earn your robotics merit badge!
Join the Maryland Science Center for a one-day in-person Scouts BSA Robotics Workshop. Scouts (in 6th-12th grade) will learn about robots and programming, then design, build, and test a hydraulic arm. After the workshop, scouts will be given the contact information for a Robotics merit badge counselor who is familiar with our program and can sign off on the badge.
Saturday, May 20
Prerequisites:
Scouts should come prepared to discuss the safety precautions and potential first aid that may be needed when working with robots (Req. 1)
Research one career opportunity in robotics (Req. 7).
Schedule
12:30pm-2:00pm – Learn about robots and the robotics industry
2:00-2:15– Break
2:15-4:30 – Design, Build, Test and Program a hydraulic arm
Cost: $45 per participant
Additional Information
- Space in the classroom is limited, so we can only allow 1 adult in the classroom per group. That adult must be in the classroom at all times.
- Reduced admission can be purchased (day of the workshop) for any scouts or family members who would like to visit the exhibits outside of the workshop.
- Badges are not included. They must be purchased from your organization.
