The Observatory is open to the public for stargazing every Friday night, weather permitting. Friday admission to the Observatory is free (does not include access to the Museum).

Phone 410-545-2999 after 5:00 PM on Fridays to find out if the Observatory will be open that night.


The Observatory is on the roof of the Maryland Science Center. On Fridays, enter through the Key Highway Entrance around the back of the building (the Group Entrance).

Additional Information

The Observatory is open to the outdoors, so please dress appropriately. If a large group (20-plus people) plans to visit, please notify us at least a week ahead of time.
