About Solstice
Solstice is the Maryland Science Center's annual fundraising event taking place on the Saturday closest to the first day of Summer–Summer Solstice. The event is one of the longest running and best attended of the season. With an emphasis on celebrating the Maryland Science Center, its programs, outreach efforts, and community involvement, Solstice always places a high emphasis on fun and quality entertainment against the backdrop of the Maryland Science Center and its spectacular waterfront address. Proceeds from Solstice help support outreach into local schools and the community. Access programs for under served audiences. Internship and Volunteer programs. And underwriting support for the long standing policy of admitting all Maryland School Children to the exhibit halls free of charge when visiting with their school group.
About Buckwheat Zydeco
Buckwheat Zydeco is the most famous and well known zydeco performer today. Zydeco music is an infectious blend of accordions, organs, electric guitars, and upbeat tempo that has been called ultimate party music. Buckwheat Zydeco has toured constantly, headlining major venues as well as sharing stages with the like of U2 and appearing as a featured guest with the Boston Pops – which performed its own orchestrated versions of several Buckwheat Zydeco numbers. The band performed at both of President Clinton's inaugurals, and was featured on the Closing Ceremonies of the Atlanta Summer Olympics before a worldwide television audience of three billion. Buckwheat Zydeco has also made numerous appearances on national television shows such as Late Night with David Letterman, The Today Show and the CBS Morning News. The signature sound of Buckwheat Zydeco and his band are guaranteed to keep audiences foot stompin' and dancing all night.
About Lost Bayou Ramblers
Lost Bayou Rambler's definitive sound captures the roots of their ancestor s with a vast repertoire of original songs and pre-century fiddle and accordion tunes. Their interpretation for the modern era as sparked a revolution in the interest of the music of the bayou. Since 1999, the band has performed their "deep swamp best" around Acadia and across the United States and Europe. Hailing from Lafayette–considered the heart of Cajun country–the band recently received a Grammy Award nomination for their release entitled Live: Á La Blue Moon.
