Friday Night Stargazing

Venture out to our urban rooftop Observatory to view the night sky as our staff help you find planets and constellations. The Observatory is open every Friday night, weather permitting. Stargazing is free and open to the public, admission to the Science Center is not required. Please phone 410.545.2999 before your visit to check on viewing conditions.

We are making the holiday season extra sweet by combining two of our favorite things—food and science!

Sungazing Saturdays

Who: Adults, Educators, Families & Kids, Members Where: The Observatory When: Every Saturday, 1:00-4:00pm How Much? Free with paid admission

Safely look at the Sun and its features–such as sunspots and prominences–through a special set of filters on our telescope. The Observatory is open to museum visitors every Saturday, weather permitting, and admission is included in general Science Center admission. Please phone 410.545.2999 before your visit to check on viewing conditions.

Deck the Halls

Join us for a day full of artistic experimentation and create some of your own art to take home.

Journey to the Arctic

Bundle up for frozen fun and chilly demonstrations. Put on gloves and other gear used by Arctic researchers, experiment with ice cubes and dry ice and even build your own bobsled to race down our slope.

Although normally closed on Mondays in the winter, the Maryland Science Center will be open on December 29 from 10am – 5pm.

Festival of Lights

Brighten up a dark winter day by participating in the Festival of Lights. Play around with shadows and test your creation on our light screen. Light up the night by creating a glow stick or building constellations.

Club Shed

Every First Friday of the month from October – March the Maryland Science Center celebrates with discounted admission from 5:00-8:00pm.

Join the Kids Room staff in the Room to Grow for a program designed for our smallest scientists, 0 to 24 months with their adult caregivers. Stimulate those young minds and help develop their earliest skills by enjoying music, rhymes, finger plays and more.
