Science can happen in a lab, science can happen in space and science can happen in your own back yard! Come to the Maryland Science Center's 7th annual Backyard Science Days for a day of animal encounters and hands-on activities. Stomp on stomp rockets, race vegetables and learn about the science that lives right outside your back door.  Whether you like slimy or furry, snakes or turtles, bugs or birds – you are sure to run into your favorite neighborhood critter.

Backyard Science Days will put visitors face-to-face with a Big Brown bat from North America and hear its high-pitched echolocation with a bat detector, see fruit bats from Africa and Asia, and meet the largest bat in the world, the Gigantic Flying Fox Bat from Malaysia with a six-foot wingspan in Rob Mies’s famed Bat Encounters show.

Come to the Science Center for a look at science you can do right outside your back door and meet the many creatures who live in your neighborhood. All activities free with paid admission, and free for members.
