How much do you know about Pi?

Time: Noon - 4:00 PM
Location: Maryland Science Center
Cost: Free with paid admission
Who should attend:Parents and kids of all ages
When: Sunday, March 14, 2010

Everyone loves Pi(e) and March 14th is the day to show it.  March 14th or 3/14 marks the celebration of the mathematical formula–Pi–which is used to calculate the circumference of a circle.

Join us for delicious treats and partake in a pie eating contest, with pies generously donated from Morton’s Steak House (Yum). Show off your Pi memorization skills and see who can recite the most numbers!  The world record for reciting Pi is held all the way to the 100,000th digit!

Contribute to our lengthy pi chain that will be displayed along the main stairs. Find out how long you can hula hoop (they are circles, after all), make a pi necklace, create circle art and slice into lots of other pi activities.

Pi Day gets even sweeter because it also happens to be Albert Einstein’s birthday. Learn what the inventor contributed to society and the role he played in making science what it is today. Before you leave, pick up a tasty fruit or chocolate pie from MoonPie but don’t let it ruin your supper!

All activities are free with paid admission.
