Math Midway Exploration Member Breakfast

mathmidway MBR event

Time: 9:30-11:00am
Location: Maryland Science Center
Cost: Free to Members
Who should attend: Members
When: Sunday, June 10, 2012

Members are invited to come down to the Science Center and explore Math Midway, the new traveling exhibition, have some breakfast and explore the museum before we open for the day. Our staff will be here that morning performing hair-raising and explosive demonstrations throughout the building. Save time to take in a presentation of The Sky Live! in the Davis Planetarium at 10am or 11am; seats available on a first-come first-served basis. Take note of the digits that appear on the Planetarium dome as you enter and see if you can guess what they represent!

To sum it all up—math is a three ring circus of fun. Math Midway features a range of unique exhibits, from square-wheeled tricycles that ride smoothly on a circular track of catenary arcs, to a plane of laser light that you can pass plastic polyhedra through to find their surprising cross sections.

Come early and stay all day! Not only is June 10th the date of this Member's Only breakfast, but it is also day two of the Maryland Science Center's Carnival Science promotional weekend. There will be lots of hands-on exploration activities you typically find at a carnival. Learn how to ride a tiny clown bike, juggle and even walk across a wire. Traditional carnival activities will be set up throughout the Maryland Science Center where you can play games, win prizes and create crafts to take home while learning how science applies to each activity.
