Before sunrise on October 8, the Moon will darken from view as it moves through Earth’s shadow in space. A lunar eclipse only happens during a full Moon, when the Moon is opposite the Sun from Earth. Join MSC staff to watch this early morning eclipse from our rooftop and Observatory on October 8, 5:00am -7:00am. Please call 410.545.2999 after 10 pm on Tuesday, October 7 for eclipse event observing conditions. The planet Uranus will be visible near the eclipsed Moon.
