Find out how you can connect with the network to share data and formulate intriguing questions about the Sun's effects on your daily life.

Awing Auroras: THEMIS Mission
Presented by Dr. Sten Odenwald, NASA Goddard

The Aurora Borealis, or Northern lights, is a bright greenish-white glow of light stretching across the northern night sky. Often, the Northern lights evolve from a peaceful green glow to bands of red, purple, and white light rapidly dancing across the sky. Sten Odenwald will "shed light" on this mysterious phenomenon with explanations and activities that you can take back to your classroom. You will also learn about the upcoming NASA Themis mission, which will likely confirm one of the two competing theories for explaining the formation or auroral substorms.
