Constellation’s Mark Huston Elected Chairman of Maryland Science Center Board

The Maryland Science Center announced today that Mark Huston, President – Constellation Retail, was elected chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Maryland Science Center and the Maryland Academy of Sciences at the institution’s annual meeting on June 20, 2014. In addition, four new board members were elected.

Patio Parties at the Maryland Science Center

This summer, the Maryland Science Center’s Patio Party series returns with more music, more science and more summer family fun. Baltimore City High School Students Awarded Maryland Science Center’s Glass Scholarships

Two Baltimore City high school students have been named recipients of the Maryland Science Center’s annual Dr. H. Bentley Glass Scholarship. Created in 1965, the Dr. H. Bentley Glass Scholarship honors Baltimore City high school students who intend to pursue post-secondary science, technology, engineering or mathematics education at a two or four-year college or university.

Mess Fest

On Saturday, June 28 the Maryland Science Center will have guests get messy at its first Mess Fest. The interactive celebration of all things spattered, mucky, yucky and messy from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. will feature an array of ooey-gooey indoor and outdoor activities for visitors.

Science on Tap: Beer-ology 101

On Thursday, June 26 the Maryland Science Center taps the keg of beer knowledge with Science on Tap: Beer-ology 101. From brewing to bottling, guests will be taken on a tour through the world of beer by expert brewmasters during a hop-heavy presentation and tasting from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Maryland Science Center invites people with a penchant for planting to go green and get sustainable at its Urban Gardening Workshops. The new series held in the Maryland Science Center’s new DIY space, The Shed, will kick off the summer gardening season with hands-on, dirt-dabbling activities that introduce sustainable gardening basics.
