Kids Room Events for November

Parents will be giving thanks for the cornucopia of fun and educational activities in The Maryland Science Center’s Kids Room in November. The Kids Room is an interactive learning center with over 50 innovative, age-appropriate programs that encourage children up to eight years old to discover and learn through hands-on play.

Preschool Storytime
Tuesdays, November 3, 10, 17, and 24
11:00 a.m.
Storytime includes stories, music, science activities, and lots of hands-on fun!

Digging the Harvest
Wednesday, November 4
2:00 p.m.
Join us as we explore autumn and all it has to offer. Learn how different cultures and people around the world celebrate the harvest season. Discover how animals, feathered and furry, prepare for the winter ahead. Fall is here and it’s time to celebrate!

Imagination & Creation Exploration
Friday, November 6 and 13
3:00 p.m.
This activity is specially designed for children ages five through eight. Come and face a new I.C.E. challenge based on our monthly theme. Our theme for November is “optics and light.” Learn about light, play with prisms, and move light with mirrors!

Special athletic time, designed just for children ages three through six and their adults. Come wiggle, squirm, and dance as we enjoy music, movement, stories, songs, and rhymes. A great opportunity to get some kid-friendly exercise and get those energetic kiddos moving.

Leave it to a Beaver
Wednesday, November 18
2:00 p.m.
Grab some waders and dive into some soggy science. Learn how entire ecosystems depend on these special animals and their dams as we investigate how beavers live and play. Meet us in the Kids Room lodge and prepare to get messy.

Infant and Toddler Activity
Thursday, November 19
11:00 a.m.
Special activity time, designed just for children up to 24 months and their adults. Come enjoy music, movement, stories, songs, and crafts with your little one. 

The Kids Roomis free with paid admission to the Maryland Science Center. All children must be accompanied by a chaperone. All activities are designed for children up to eight years of age. All activities subject to change or cancellation without notice.

The Maryland Science Center in Baltimore is visited by more than 500,000 people each year. Popular exhibits include: Dinosaur Mysteries with full-size dinosaurs and interactive paleontology activities; a day in the life of the human body in Your Body: The Inside Story; and dozens of interactive experiments in Newton’s Alley. On October 3, the Maryland Science Center will debut “Da Vinci – The Genius,” the most comprehensive traveling exhibition on Leonardo da Vinci ever assembled.
