Maryland Science Center Camp Includes New Programs
This summer the Maryland Science Center’s Camp MSC will offer for children ages 4-13 a variety of half-day and full-day exciting opportunities including 14 new programs. From June 28 through July 30, Camp MSC will host five, week-long sessions where children will have fun, learn and explore topics such as the human body, dinosaurs, outer space, and wildlife through interactive activities. Full-day programs offer extended care with early drop off and late pick up; early drop-off is available for half-day participants as well.
Full-Day Programming
Several new programs at Camp MSC will encourage campers of all ages to become innovators. Kids can learn engineering and wizarding skills in a fun and creative environment by creating their own goopy mixtures in Slimy Science, making toys, candy, and soap in You Make It! and making everything from potato launchers to giant instruments in Wicked Cool Science.
Two programs will let campers see that the impossible may actually be possible as they learn about all things bizarre and unusual, from concoctions to wildlife. Campers will discover the science behind Mother Nature as they generate their own hurricanes, tsunamis and tornadoes in Stormchasers. They can also journey into the magical world of Harry Potter in the popular program Wizarding for Muggles, and take “wizarding” classes such as herbology, potions and care of magical creatures.
Half-Day Programming
This summer, the Maryland Science Center will have five programs for its youngest campers, ages 4 and 5 including Storybook Science where they will venture into popular storybooks. Children will look into the enchanted forests and the wild creatures of their favorite fairy tales, and then conduct experiments about the science beneath the tales. Other programs include 3-2-1 Blast Off!, Splish Splash, Science on the Move, and the popular Dinosaurs Rock!
Full-day programs at Camp MSC, for children ages 6-13, are held from 9 am - 4 pm. Fees for the full-day programs camp are: $290 per child per session, $275 for Maryland Science Center members. A full-day Working Parent Package, which includes the session, lunch, and extended care is $415 per child per session, $400 for members.
Half-day programs at Camp MSC are held from 9 am - 12 pm for children ages 4 and 5, with a snack included. Fees for half-day programs are $130 per session per child, $115 for Maryland Science Center members. Half Day Extended Care (a.m. only) is $180 per child per session, $165 for members.
